AoC is dying, buying it would be a waste. If they improve it then you might consider getting it, but for now stay away. If you really wanted a WoW like fantasy game then I’d suggest trying Lotro (lord of the rings online), which recently had an expansion.

Honestly I would wait for some of the newer games coming out in 2009-2010. Check out Mmorpg.com and Tentonhammer for more details.

The next major MMOs I will be looking at are World of Darkness online (vampires, werewolves, mages, in a modern setting) and Huxley Online which is an MMOFPS (mmo first person shooter), which has been in development for a while. The game looks like it could be much more fun than Halo. Especially the maps.

I would not suggest EVE Online or Huxley Online for anyone who is looking for an MMO similar to WoW in any way. EVE is more like a flight simulator, and is indeed very challenging.

It requires lots of time invested to be able to truly play the game though. By the time you get to that stage, you might even be burned out on the game… I was after playing it for over a year.

I recently tried the same thing, but I just have to let you know, WoW is the one MMORPG to rule them all. Trust me on this one. I spent alot of money figuring that one out.

However, if you want one heck of a gaming challenge, try EVE online. FF is always a good choice, I think both have a free trial period atm.

Guild Wars Trilogy is going for around $20, around 6 million players a good +120 hours of fun. If you decide to only get one campaign , go with the newest one called Nightfall.
