    Actually, people often do this.
It’s called doujinshi, also refered to as ‘fanworks’ or ‘ameteur works’.
Many people get successful for this. (For example, Azuma Kiyohiko and CLAMP have created doujins). Others just get slammed for it.
Be careful about copyright. You can try to sell these at con(provided you go to them), but be certain to include the names of the original owners for the characters. (‘Naruto (c) Masashi Kishimoto’, ‘Vampire Knight (c) Hino Matsuri’, etc…)
Just don’t expect to become a professional manga artist by creating these fanworks.
They’re meant to be more for fun, anyway.

if you sell it and call it yours

It’s called fanart, and you can draw it if you wish. It’s only illegal if you claim they are your own characters and try to sell it.

  4. ?Kuro says:

No, unless you want to sell it. Then you’d have to get permission from the author of the original manga.

    No it’s not!

That’s called Fanart, and its ok. But you cant sell it under your’s. You need to ask them permission first :D

If you want the world to see your fanart, post them onto this website:

and please inform me once you are done!! :D

It’s called a doujinshi or fan art. As long as you don’t claim the characters as yours, you should be fine.
